Aberdeen Overview


Aberdeen city is located between the River Dee and Don in Scotland.

Aberdeen is a seaport, centre of the British North Sea oil industry, and the business capital of northeastern Scotland. Aberdeen's source of income was mostly from fishing, shipbuilding, and papermaking. It is now however, more focused on the oil business. However, they are working on other projects involving renewable energy resources.

Johnston Gardens
This beautiful garden is the best place to go whenever you need to be by yourself or if you miss nature. You can listen to the gentle sound of streams and waterfalls, enjoy the soothing sounds and relax.

Aberdeen Harbour
Do you love dolphins? If you do, then you should visit Aberdeen Harbour. You can see the dolphins from the shore, and there are boat tours available as well.

St Machar's Cathedral
St Machar's history goes back to the 12th century with a beautiful heraldic ceiling. Scotland鈥檚 greatest hero William Wallace also known as Braveheart, after he was executed in 1305, it is said that his body was cut up and sent to different parts of the country. It is said that his left arm was buried in the walls of the cathedral.

Seaton Park
This park has many beautiful areas, including flowerbeds, rose beds, and the walled garden beside the old stables. You can also access the River Don from this park. The Aberdeen Kayak Club offers taster sessions for those who have never use a kayak before.

St Cyrus National Nature Reserve
This place is a piece of heaven in Britain. If you want to see the most beautiful wildflowers and mysterious volcanic cliffs, you should definitely visit St Cyrus.

Macduff Marine Aquarium
Hundreds of local sea creatures from different species are on display in this incredible aquarium.

King鈥檚 College
King鈥檚 College is the original home to the University of Aberdeen and is the fifth oldest college in the 杏吧原创. Also, its chapel is a popular venue for weddings and concerts.

Transport in Aberdeen


People in Aberdeen prefer to use public transport instead of driving. The good news is that you can go to most parts of the city using Aberdeen's buses. Also, for those who want to explore other parts of the 杏吧原创, the railway network is the best way.

Bus services usually run at 15 minute intervals during the day, and in the evenings and on Sundays, the intervals are every 30 minutes. Keep in mind that you should purchase your tickets in advance because the bus drivers do not carry cash.

If you鈥檙e an athlete or you simply enjoy cycling, then you鈥檙e in luck. Aberdeen has a relatively good network of cycle paths that connect a number of suburbs through the city centre.
